Big news — Canoe Creative has an official home on the web! You can check it out here.
It's been a long time coming. Let me catch you up:
Since 2016, I've kept a little online portfolio of my creative work, evolving every few years as my skillset advanced. During this time, I started to get more serious about photography — first as a hobby, then as a way to serve friends and explore the craft. I photographed weddings, graduations, family portraits, and learned a ton along the way.
Around the same time, I took an editorial design class to fulfill my journalism and mass communications degree, not realizing it would totally shape my career. I fell in love with design — the kind that tells a story, draws the eye, and serves a purpose.

And so, Canoe Creative was born. I was on the third floor of Parks Library at Iowa State University, applying for internships, when I decided to brand myself under a name. Instead of "that girl who takes pictures and designs stuff," I wanted to be seen as a real creative. The name is even a play on my last name, Knudsen, (which — fun fact ‚ is changing in 39 days and counting!) Canoe-d-son. Canoe Creative.
In 2020, I had three full-time job offers vanish thanks to the pandemic. I almost went full-time with Canoe Creative right then and there, but God had better things planned.
I landed my current role at International Christian Concern, where I wear many hats: designer, writer, web developer, editor-in-chief, director, and more. At times, I've felt refined through fire, but I wouldn't be the skilled professional I am today without it.
Over the years, many of you have reached out for branding, websites, photography, and design help — and now, there's finally a place to connect, collaborate, and share what I do!
I've been working for a few months to completely transform this website into one that communicates services clearly and beautifully and allows me to connect with even more people to help make their dreams a reality.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I wouldn't be here without you!
If you or someone you know needs a logo, an easy-to-use website, or help bringing your creative idea to life — I'm your girl! Let's connect.
