Monthly Nonprofit Magazine Production
International Christian Concern (ICC) serves persecuted religious minorities across some of the most dangerous regions in the world, including parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The monthly magazine serves as a key awareness tool, helping supporters understand critical geopolitical issues, explore humanitarian relief efforts, and connect with inspiring testimonies through compelling storytelling.
Deliverables and Responsibilities:
-
Develop unique editorial themes and story ideas for each issue.
-
Coordinating with a team of writers for article assignments and editorial deadlines.
-
Writing and copyediting articles to maintain a consistent, professional voice.
-
Designing each issue to deliver dynamic visual storytelling.
-
Managing magazine distribution, including coordinating with printers and sending email communications to a 35,000-person audience.
Setting a New Precedent
Reconceptualizing a standardized annual report into an exciting visual experience.
This report (filling in for the December magazine) captures a full year of ICC's work. More than 15,000 copies are distributed, twice the amount of the standard monthly magazine.

I reimagined the entire structure from previous years, starting in 2022: organizing it regionally, introducing map projects, and incorporating as many powerful stories as possible.

The result set a new standard for ICC's annual reports, raising the bar for storytelling, design innovation, and donor engagement.

Transforming a Vital Fundraising Tool
Before I took over, the magazine was a basic, template-based newsletter packed with dense blocks of text and little creative vision.

Drawing on my experience at Meredith Corporation, I saw the opportunity to transform the magazine into one of the organization's strongest fundraising and donor engagement tools.
